Its' the favour of God. It has to be...

This posting, I have to admit is a little overdue. But really, it will not be right of me to withhold the glory due to Him.

This is a continuation from an earlier posting, "the ocean and the deep blue sea". As we mentioned, we were so blessed that we did not know which path to choose. Derrick went for an interview in March for the position of a Business Development Manager. As in all other job interviews, he would always tell Daddy, "if this is the job for me, let them accept me on my terms. Without negotiation." Daddy always answers. So he laid the same fleece again... only this time, he was asking for a rather exorbitant, humanly unreasonable increment. 33% more than his previous job. Given that Derrick had only 5 years of experience in this field, his chances of getting the job at the asking price was rather impossible. But it's really God's favour that matters right?

He came back from the interview and told me that the GM who interviewed him nearly fell off his chair when he heard his asking salary. But the job was everything Derrick had longed to do. He would be given the opportunity to use his management theories and creativity to develop products for his sales team.

A couple of days later, he was informed that he got the job. They would pay him what he asked for. But the only condition was that he must join them in April and this means that he would have to forego his incentive payouts due in May. He did quite well last year and the the incentive amounts to no meagre sum. But the new company could not wait till then. We were in a dilemma between the lump sum payout and the new position. Even though we knew that God had answered us the way He answered Gideon, we were still torn. We finally decided that since God had opened the door, that had to be the way... perhaps it's the 'narrow' way, but it's the way. Our hearts still ached at what we had to forego.

I was not totally convinced though... Daddy wants to prosper us and has only good intentions for us. He being an almighty God... is there no other way? The night before Derrick signed his appointment letter, I was updating my blog and still agonising over it when I suddenly heard a still quiet voice. An assuring voice that said to me, "Whoever said you had to choose. I will give you both. If you would just ask. Ask me and see." Suddenly, it dawned on me that we had been thinking about our own human limitations but we've never asked. So I put my faith in the Lord and asked, "Daddy, I ask you for both... we want our pie and eat it too." After that, I shared with Derrick what Daddy assured me and we both praised the Lord for His goodness. His mercies endures forever.

The next day, after Derrick signed the appointment letter that says that he'll start work in April, he met with the MD of the company. They chatted and when they came to the part about his performance in his former company, Derrick casually brought up that he is foregoing his incentive payout because he would have to tender his resignation before that. But to his surprise, the MD said, "No! Why don't you tender your resignation after you get your incentive? We will wait for you. Let us get this settled with HR right now!" They went to the HR department and they agreed that he would join them only after he gets his incentive.

Derrick has since joined the new company for 2 weeks and his MD had shown him much favour. Just a couple of days ago, he found out that almost the entire sales team are Christians and his MD is a man of God too! Derrick doesn't have good qualifications. He barely passed his "A"s and he has not furthered his studies after that. But God's favour surrounds us and He has truly prospered Derrick especially in terms of his career.

We know that all these is not possible without HIM! So all glory and honour to our GOD! Our heavenly FATHER who loves us!
